Stirling – Lindisfarne

Friend and Guide Karen McCormick meet the group at Stirling Castle for an incredible tour. (See the William Wallace monument on the distant hillside just above and between Bella and Josh Port.)
The group poses with Karen before we said goodbye. (We’ll see Karen again at our farewell dinner next Saturday night in Edinburgh.)

We officially are together again as we met for breakfast at 8,

An ala carte menu provided the night before led to choices that they all ate.

We checked out of the hotel and George arrived and we drove up the hill to the castle,

Karen our guide drove from Edinburgh, and she helped us enter without any hassle.

She taught the group much about Scottish history and how so much happened at this site

And the museum guide at the unicorn tapestries added great Christian symbols insight.

We said goodbye to Karen till next Saturday night, and with George they drove off in a flash,

To find Marks and Spencer to buy some lunch, and to exchange some extra cash.

Then the long drive to Lindisfarne with a stop to see the horse sculptures, the largest equine sculptures anywhere

at 100 feet they stand out as you drive, with steel beauty beyond compare.

Kelpies as they are called – horse sculptures (30 meters high) as a monument to horse powered heritage across central Scotland.

Then another two hours to Lindisfarne, Fr. Marty had gone on ahead

With groceries purchased and bags ready, they arrived at Holy Isle, a walking tour and dinner, then everyone off to bed.
